Codes and Conventions: Systems of signs, which create meaning. Codes are visuals/audio, conventions group together to make a genre.



Masthead (Where is it situated? What is the font? What is the colour)

Fonts (How many fonts are there? Do they relate to the genre)

Colour Scheme (How many colours are there? Do they relate to the genre?)

Slogan (is it memorable? Is it a pun? Where is it?)

Cover Lines, Bylines & Feature Articles (Do they relate to the genre? Do they use language techniques? Size of text? Effects on text?)

Main Image (What type of shot is it- does this relate to the genre? Who is being presented?)

A font is one particular weight and style of a larger typeface. Typefaces are categories comprised of many different fonts. Serif is a typeface, and Times New Roman is a font that is part of the Serif family. Variety of different fonts and typefaces. Media Summer

In fairness, my summer didn't consist of many mediums. However there were a few moments that happened during the summer, that without different media institutions and inventions, wouldn't of been the same. There was a couple events that took place in Southgate, located in the North London borough Enfiled. Recent events that have occurred in the capital have highlighted certain areas as places to avoid, with large parts of Southgate being one of those. Many different online news articles provided us with different information, each with a different interpretation of the area. Some spoke of the dangers, others spoke of the change and over-exaggeration of the problem. Overall the whole experience taught me that different form of media, whether that's social media or online news, they each have there own interpretation, showing how easy is it is cast your opinion on something using media.
