Task 2 ( Learning Outcome 1 & 2) P1(U3) P2(U3 & 21) M1(U3): Be able to create a proposal with sample materials for an original media product to a client brief.
Proposal
Title:
I decided to choose this name and font as i think it best sums up jazz. The original Jazz was prominently played by African Americans in America, during a time of great racial inequality suffered by the black community. Throughout its time, jazz has been about coming together and forgetting the harsh realities we all face day to day, and just letting go. Its spelt with 2 'A' to show the looseness of jazz. I chose the 'messy ben' font to signify the flow of jazz, very relaxed and relaxed, with not much care. but enough for you to see a appeal.
Purpose:
The purpose of this product is to show people the true beauty that jazz holds, to accept everyone. It informs people of the new wave of jazz, as well as aiming to spread morale peace.
Genre:
Through careful and in-depth research into the North London music scene, i decided to create a magazine designated to Jazz. This is because its a genre the everyone is fond of, but if they really knew the background and what jazz holds, then it would be much more widely listened to.
One of the most renowned Jazz Bars in North London is 'The Vortex' in Stoke Newington, playing the most up and coming and best artists around.
Jazz is a genre that the majority of students say they play whilst revising, with the calmness stimulating there brain and helping them to concentrate. Through my magazine i hope to bring jazz out of its long sleep, and welcome it to the 21st Century.
Content:
My magazine will include features such as exclusive offers to venues, exclusive interviews with the newest stars on the jazz scene, as well as weekly updates on new songs and competitions.
Having exclusive interviews with unknown knew artist will add exposure and enable them to gain attention and gain a following, helping them kick start there career, as well as fulfilling and exceeding there potential.
Have exclusive competitions and offers will entice people to buy the magazine, as these types of opportunities will not be able to be found anywhere else. Furthermore having exclusive offers to venues and concerts will create more hype around the venues, bringing them more money and exposure.
Target Audience
My Primary Target audience will be middle aged males, who were bought up on jazz. I personally don't think this genre will appeal to anyone younger, as they would be used to a whole new type of music, so aiming mainly at the older generation will ensure my magazine is successful. I will make it clear who the target audience is by using slightly darker colours, to signify it is more of a sophisticated magazine, and not necessarily the most kid friendly. The secondary audience will be people who are looking to try out new style of music, but wanted to know a little about the genre before hand, so would in turn choose to buy my magazine to gain that little bit of extra knowledge.

Personnel required for ALL JAAZ:
To gain the most professional results, the personnel i require would be:
- Model
- Photographer
- Photo editor
- Magazine content writer
- Magazine editor
To make this magazine the most cost and time efficient it can be, I will be taking it upon myself to fulfil all roles, apart from model and photographer. This will benefit my magazine for the better because there will be no mixed opinions, as it is just me and I have a clear thought as to what I want the final outcome to look like.
Marketting Methods:
As my magazine will be new on the scene, it will require a high level of marketing to get its name out there. Therefor i will make short previews available on different social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. By doing this, my magazine will be exposed to a whole new variety of people, making them my secondary audience.
Distribution Methods:
My main source of distribution will be through an online subscription form, in which you tell us your address and pay a monthly fee, and in return we send over a brand new copy every week. Nowadays with more and more people chosen to shop online, it would be a much more effective way to make sure my magazine is accessed by all.
However, it will also be available at book stores and supermarkets, as many people still frequently shop in-store, as well as online.
Legal and Ethical Issues:
Some legal issues I may face:
- Shooting on private land.
- Permission to use certain photos.
- Copyright problems.
Some ethical issues I may face are:
- Ensure nothing contains any hate, or racial propaganda
- Ensure all content is 100% truthful
- Ensure that personal information of those featured in the magazine are kept confidential and secret.

This is a good piece of work, Sam - very detailed and thorough. With your avatar, it would be a good idea to include a secondary audience as well. Is there another sector of the market at whom you could target your magazine?
ReplyDeleteMr Boon
